Watsela had a false alarm at her hospital for a bomb today. When we had dinner together in the evening, we were talking about it and the attacks in general.
Suddenly 8-year old Lakkika asks: “Should I actually hear about all that?”
Damn no, he shouldn’t! No child should hear about bombs and deaths and that actually humans (well, sad excuses of a human) want to do that to their fellow human beings!
It is a terrible, tragic world that we have created for future generations! You and I have talked about this before: the horrors of war, economic exploitation and sexual abuse are all too common for children all over the world. I don’t know what the answer is, to be honest. I am guilty of being one of the people who lived in their political and economic “comfort zone / bubble”, and relatively recently woken up to the real world – not only is it shocking, but there are guilt issues about why it took me so long to wake up and truly, actively, oppose the system in any way I can!
